Hogs For The Cause Bands Ranked

Took up someone's suggestion on the previous thread. I plan to go both days so thought it would be a great idea to get to know all the bands since you can pretty much see them all if you want.
I knew about half of them going into the listening but really enjoyed them all. Ranking will be difficult (and of course subjective) because they do span different genres and they are all great bands/acts, some more polished than others. But still thought it would be a fun thing to do. I highly recommend listening to all the bands and chiming in as well. I will note that I am an "Alt Rock" fan and Deer Tick loyalist but appreciate musicianship above all. So without further ado.....
1) Deer Tick
2) Greensky Bluegrass
3) Dragon Smoke
4) Great Peacock
5) Phil Cook
6) American Aquarium
7) Tab Benoit
8) The Deslondes
9) Shovels & Rope (I'm prepared for backlash)
10) Twiddle (admittedly not a jam fan but some strong guitar)
11) Motel Radio (w a little polish could be band on the rise)
12) Kristin Diable
13) Sweet Crude
14) Luke Winslow King (electric songs are great)
15) Big Sam's Funky Nation

Greensky is probably the best with Dragon Smoke right behind. I like Shovels & Rope and think they should be higher. I like jams but Twiddle is still probably too high.

Shovels and Rope is the best band there. Period.

I'm just proud to say our group has shared a bill with three of these acts. maybe next year
In terms of who I want to see most, its probably The Deslondes, Deer Tick, and Motel Radio - those are my dudes.

if you haven't seen them live, you're in for a surprise.

They are good and have some intereseting songs. But there is only so much you can do with two people on minimal set ups so it depends heavily on how much you like the singer songwriter type stuff. I also hope they have some new songs, I haven't seen them in a couple years.

agreed. I thought they were good but I didn't feel the need to ever see them again.
