Guitar practice. My fingers are sore and I've learned nothing.

Just dicking around. Flat pick, finger pick, chord changes.

I suck. That is all.

what are you trying to learn? are you completely committed to learning to play? or is it something you just mess with occasionally?

Acoustic only. I'm 43, so I know I'm limited.

I picked the Acoustic up at age 40.I'm 55 now and I entertain the heck out of myself.

I probably know around 80 songs and am always trying to learn new songs to play.

Stick with it.Only way to get better is to practice.

If I can learn to play,it leads me to believe that about anyone can if they put their mind to it.

Good luck.

just stick with it. I've been playing since 1962. can play all the rock music I want. did the band thing for awhile but got burnt out on the gigs. we're lucky to have the Internet.....back in the day it was constantly putting the needle on the record all day long to learn a riff!

Hendrix probably said the same thing when he started playing.

Or maybe not.

Anyway, like someone else wrote, just stick with it.

I can relate. I get frustrated too sometimes. Sometimes I find that I occasionally need to re-examime my approach to playing - Look at it as relaxation or a meditation exercise instead of the grind it can be and the pressure you put on yourself to get better faster. I'm not very good either. I can play a few songs. I just look at it like a journey. Unfortunately I started my journey a little late, but hopefully I can keeping adding to the songs I know and be able to be comfortable playing almost anything one day. Don't give up and keep practicing.

If you've learned a couple of Chords, practice changing from one to another.

It takes a little while to get really deep fingertip calluses to where you can play for extended periods.

It took several years for me,for the final thing to fall into place for me.Rhythm.

After a while you'll notice just how many Songs are so simple in the Chord structure.

The Chords E,A,and D are the only Chords in so many Songs.Every Buddy Holly Song.

I got CAGED and E minor A minor. I can barre an F but that chord change is non existent

It's just working on changes for sake of changes. Because most songs I find that please my ear are tougher or use a capo. A capo makes some chords easy and some cramped.
