Have either of those ever been a headliner? Curious as we are discussing greatest.

Nah. And neither band would make it into a top 5. But I listened to some BC today and the Groundhogs should be better known than they are; I hope some younger people pick up on the Hogs, they kicked arse back in the day.

BBA (Beck, Bogert, Appice)

Rory Gallagher worked most of the time in a trio format.

And, just for kicks, The Jam.

Rory Gallagher, Gerry McAvoy & Ted McKenna were the best trio I ever saw.

Dash Rip Rock were the best bar band I ever witnessed.

Blue Cheer is criminally unknown. I love their cover of Summertime Blues.

Blink 182 may not be the best, but damn they were a lot of fun.

I like your other choices and offer Triumph (the "other" Canadian trio) as the underrated power trio of all time.

Awesome band. The way they incorporated classical notes into their music was brilliant.

Awesome band

I just remembered the name of possibly the greatest trio in the history of rock and roll music. Actually, they're not pure rock, but rather "baroque pop".

Does anyone remember Emerson, Lake and Palmer?
If so, oh, what a lucky man he is.
