Chedward, this is a big moment….I know you'll do the right thing and use it on this board when you are good and ready.

I've been on a Dead kick lately. Here are some shows I've been rotating:

5.8.77 Barton Hall - Just a beautiful Begonias>Fire. My favorite from this show is definitely the St. Stephen>Not Fade Away>St. Stephen>Morning Dew. Their transitions are just so smooth

2.26.77 Swing Auditorium - Starts off with the first ever Terrapin. Other highlights are Sugaree (heater) and Eyes of the World>Dancin' in the Streets. Also the show featuring the first Estimated Prophet

5.17.77 Gumpland - Not necessarily a long Prophet but they absolutely kill it. Also a very good Terrapin>Playin' in the Band

6.30.85 Merriweather Post Pavillion - A great Shakedown ending the first set followed by a melting Samson & Delilah. A classic He's Gone that slowly morphs into Cryptical Envelopment. Space>The Other One

6.30.84 Indianapolis Sports & Music Center - Definitely one of my favorite Deals. Shakedown>Playin'>Terrapin is a phenomenal segue. Goin' Down the Road Feelin Bad>One More Saturday Night is a great ending to a great show.

I've been listening to 12.31.78 all morning. Starts off strong, but kinda fizzling for me in the middle right now.

Let's back it up a day bro.

5.7.77 Boston Garden - Nice Bertha opener, despite some technical difficulties. Some gorgeous, soft, soulful guitar work in the main solo for Peggy-O. Some more Jerry fireworks in the best Mississippi Half-Step I've heard. A real rockin' Sampson & Delilah. Other highlights: Terrapin, Friend of the Devil, Eyes of the World. Essential show, IMO.

That's a good one for sure.

5.9.77 Buffalo, NY Great opening of Help On The Way>Slipnot!>Frankys Tower. A solid Big River. Prophet>Other One is a must hear. Not to mention Comes A Time. 76-77 Comes A Time jams were so sick

Bob Weir opened up for Avett Brothers at Red Rocks a couple of weekends ago. He came back on stage to play Uncle John's Band with them during their set. That was pretty sweet.

So hard to beat the Dead in '71 & '72. Plugged straight in. Aside from Jerry's wah pedal.

No doubt. The Dancing in the Streets is my favorite from that run. The breakdown is sick.

5-4-77 nyc show has a sweet row jimmy. They were so dialed in on that tour.

I was just listening to 9-3-77, which took place near where i grew up. I love the hes gone->nfa->trucking and the terrapin encore.

At the height of its power, by far one of the most goose bump enducing dead songs along with stella blue and standing on the moon for me.

I've seen the Grateful Dead something like 70+ times from '87-'95.

That being said, I prefer '67-'71 (can't beat Pigpen!), followed by '88-''91.

I know the '77 run is hailed as the GOAT of Dead runs, but I just can not tolerate Donna Jean Godcheaux. In my opinion, a plethora of the '77 jams were ruined by her cackling.

No doubt on the 77 run. That famous 5-8-77 show was the first really high quality tape I traded for back in the day and sent me down the wormhole of bootleg collection off of rec.music.gdead for years to come.

Does that Row Jimmy have the double time speed up at the end where they go into almost a reggae riff? I love the ones that do that.

Ran into a rainstorm
Ducked into a bar door
It was all night pouring, pouring rain
But not a drop on me
