Please please please wear earplugs at concerts.

I saw Tesseract and Gojira last night and I was seriously shocked by how few people wore them.

tinnitus is no joke and if you want to avoid permanent damage to your ears, please wear them.

Etymotic Research makes some really good ones and for $13 on Amazon you can get a pair.

Not only will they protect your ears, but it actually makes the music more enjoyable.

Good post. My hearing sucks and I need to do more before it's too late.

I have never worn earplugs and never will at a concert. That is just ridiculous to block out the main thing you paid for to see.

Honestly, some venues/sound guys just can't comprehend that it sounds better at 8 than 11. That said, most quality bands will have a sound guy touring with them that knows what they are doing and won't overdo it. It's usually the early acts that sound like shite and try to get noticed with volume. I usually bring plugs for the openers to keep my hearing in good shape for the headliner.

I've been to more shows than I can count, mostly hard rock and metal. I'm 34 and can still hear all of the bizarre high frequency noises that adults are not supposed to hear.

I also had massively overpowered sound systems in my cars until I was about 28. Somehow, I just got lucky and am not deaf.

You got two down votes.

Dumbasses. YES wear earplugs. My stupid arse went shooting two years ago. My ears still ring. Not at a range or indoors, but middle of a pasture. Had ear plugs but popped off 2 shots with a 20 gauge while skeet shooting. Also while bullshitting and sitting on tailgates of 5-6 trucks one guy spots a dove and drops it with a 12 gauge. Tried cupping my hands over my ears, but just a bit late.

This was an average fall/winter Saturday for 15-19 year old me. Or driving around gullies and giving snakes hell near rice fields. 16 year old ears bounce back. 35-40 year old ears do not. I've waited 3 years for the ringing to stop.

No what the treatment is for tinnitus. Jack shite! You can try a vertigo medication, you can try Xanax. That's about it. No shite, Xanax is a treatment option. I guess it makes you not give a f--- that your ears are ringing for 3 hours?

Some acts have the treble levels so high, I've started to hear static in my left ear as I've gotten older, which makes it annoying as hell to listen to a show. A quality pair of earplugs curbs some of that treble, and actually makes the listening experience better. IMO.

I have never worn plugs at a concert but I double up (inside ear and outside ear) when I shoot. I am gonna start using them at shows as well now. Btw, how was Gojira and Tesseract? I wanted to see them in Houston but I dont think I can make it.

I'm seeing them next Friday in Houston! Anticipation doesn't begin to describe my excitement for this show. How was it?

a good quality pair at a too loud show will actually allow you to hear it better potentially.

I would advise you to do some research.

Good ear plugs do no "block out" the music. It basically just turns it down. It actually brought the bass out better.

When I went to sleep last night my ears weren't ringing or hissing like they usually do after a show

It was awesome, though I have to admit it's my 3rd time seeing Tesseract. They don't put on a bad show

If you asked me the loudest show I've ever attended, it would be them.
