Damn it. It’s been discussed here but I have yet to find anyone. Not looking for a band. Just a group of guys to play with.

Not being in California or Nashville makes it problematic. But Katy TX is not a single stop light town.

My goal is to meet some normal folks around my age. And not get my guitars stolen by some 20 something year olds.

You can only play guitar on your couch and bedroom to YouTube for so long.

Craigslist, Bandmix, or your city’s Reddit sub are all good resources for connecting with musicians.

Craigslist used to be great, but Facebook marketplace really killed its userbase. Local musicians groups on facebook are still solid for finding players over 35.

The best way is to attend blues jams and open mics and network with the musicians there. Even Baton Rouge has many of these events every week.

Bandmix?

Appears to be a pay site only? No messages or boards without upgrade?

Am I wrong?

Guess it’s off to Reddit.

Not a musician, but I’ve drunlingly contributed to jam sessions spontaneously with benign percussion instruments (shakers/tambourine). I would have been kicked out if I rolled into the place with “a six string on my back”. No one needs a third acoustic guitar to add to the vibe. Learn the mandolin/banjo/ukulele. Distinguish yourself in some way

Yeah. You can set up a profile and receive messages for free, but you can't send messages without upgrading to premium.

Once or twice a year I'll pay for a month premium and message some people. Probably not the best source for just casual musicians, but it is a resource.
