After towing the line on how terrible it is for a while now, I'll turn the corner... It really isn't that bad. I'll take it over 90% of country radio.
I agree with this. I actually like it alot, and would maintain that Hootie might be one of the best country acts of the last 5 years, which doesn't really say much...

Hootie is a National Treasure about like Rascal Flats is a national treasure. Or syphilis for that matter. At least syphilis doesn't monotonously hum-sing terrible music that gets blasted across FM radio stations from here to Katmandu.

I actually think it is a decent version of the song. He does a good job of vocalizing and he is much more suited to this type of music than the stuff he did with H&tB. That old crap was so whiny and nasally it was hard to listen to. Props to the "new" Darius Rucker.

Please enlighten me- is it Aldean or rascal Flatts? Maybe Taylor swift? I'm not saying he's the next Waylon fricking Jennings, I'm just saying he's a hell of a lot better than 75% of what's on country radio these days.

No one on country radio is the "best country musician of the last 5 years". Because no one on country radio is actually country

OK, maybe it was a little troll on my part. Country music is in pretty bad shape though, and I think we can all agree on that.

No we can't. Some of the best country music I've ever heard is being released right now. You've just got to venture further than the radio

For all the Hootie bashers, I found this in an article written by the head of cultural studies at Stanford:
And that dude's gotta PhD and shite, so you can all suck it.

Not since Elvis Presley has any one man made more of an impact on American pop culture or united the country in such a universal admiration as "Hootie". Hootie, or Darrius Rucker as he is known by his slave name, first appeared on the music scene in the early nineties and not only taught us what good music was, but also reminded the nation how to love again. We will never be able to repay the debt we all owe to this great American but we should never cease our efforts, regardless, because any action or thought geared toward promoting this great man will never be in vein.
And that dude's gotta PhD and shite, so you can all suck it.

Touche. I guess I should limit my statement to mainstream country.

I hope that wasn't serious. Please tell me it wasn't.
