Joni Mitchell's "court and Spark" is a great album. Her voice is just amazing to me

The gold standard for such albums is Tapestry by Carole King. That included the #1 hits "It's Too Late" and "So Far Away", "I Feel The Earth Move", "You've Got A Friend", "Smackwater Jack" and her version of the ever popular "Will You Love Me Tomorrow". It came out WAY BACK in 1971, and ranks as one of the best selling albums ever.
You political board postings suck you liberal bastard (lol), but you are spot on with this music board post. Nailed it with this post.

Yeah, Carole King and Carly Simon are better than all the non-Joni Mitchell choices on your list.
Yeah, I'm old buddy, wanna fight about it?
I'm glad some of you brought up some old favorites...it now gives me listening material.
Like I said in my post, this is weighted to more recent albums...
I never listened to female singer-songwriters much before the 90's. Even later way after college.
I think I am biased to Tori Amos because Little Earthquakes was so huge back then.
And Norah's Live in New Orleans is a favorite DVD.

Valerie June - "Pushin' Against A Stone" is an amazing album
I second Regina Spektor, Neko Case, Gillian Welch, Cat Power, and Amy Winehouse.

One of my favorites, no pun...
Live in Austin.
But I didn't think she fit the category with group performers and previous bands...but maybe she does.
I was !more focused on solo artists on one instrument with backup...traditional singer-songwriter.
