I couldn't sing the words to one single song of his. I really have never enjoyed his music. I can't even do the "I don't care for his music, but I respect it" thing for him. I'm awestruck when I hear someone say they are a huge Costello fan.

How could you be?

His first four albums were fantastic IMO. Fantastic. My Aim is True is definitely a GOAT.

Ah, another gem not mentioned on this board,

'5ive Gears in Reverse'

I'm partial to This Years Model...

But your right about his early output... Absolute classics...

I think 'Aim' gets GOAT status because it's tight, was ground breaking, and is a single disc.

I couldn't really choose if forced to, amongst the first four.

Preference at any given moment owes to state of mind or humor.

The trifecta of My Aim Is True, This Year's Model and Armed Forces are the bible of clever songwriting. Love Elvis Costello! Half of Famer, the man is as good as it gets!

If there really was a god, Elvis Costello would be called "the Boss" and Bruce Springsteen would be the subject of this thread. Just saying . . .

No worries. Elvis is extremely well respected by those that matter, and know. I'd sleep well at night, were I him (he, whatever).

HIs 1st album was released sometime in the 70s and was very good. The overall quality of his albums just got worse with each subsequent release to the point that I lost interest. Now I think his stuff is just crap.

Not sure how you can even have an opinion of you're not a fan. Is there somewhere his music is forced on you?

Here's a newer track I love:
Monkey to Man

Reminds me a bit of Smash Mouth.
