What goes on at this place?

Is it music? Spoken word stuff? Poetry? Or just people talking?

Great place to see live music. Very chill, nothing pretentious, BYOB, ample parking.

slip dan the man a 20 spot when he lets you in, and he'll hook you up with a chair with an armrest

Spot is awesome.

Great intimate setting for a small show.

It's a pretty chill place to check out a show that ends before 10 pm. I'm a fan, plus it's right around the corner from my house.

i'm gonna guess that this is not a "headbanging" kind of music place. so, who plays there? what type of music?

singer songwriters and smaller bands. not really a "loud" rock venue but they have had bands play there.

Acoustic alternative, folk, singer/songwriters, Americana. You know, music for emotional middle-aged people. If you like to just chill and listen to the good vibes and emotional sorrow, it's the second best place in town to do it (Red Dragon is #1 for this scene). If you like music you can dance to, mosh to, head bang to, etc, it's not your Huckleberry.

yeah, that's not me for the most part any more. I mean i love a metallica show. But, Ikinda saw this place as an "unplugged" venue.

And that's exactly what it is. Different strokes for different folks. Baton Rouge's music scene needed a place like Dyson House even if it's not my cup of tea.

I've been to live shows featuring metallica, korn, rob zombie,ozzy,kiss.. lot's of heavy stuff. but, i also enjoy the unplugged type stuff. so, i enjoy a wide range of music.

once went to a rod stewart concert with my wife just because patty smythe was opening.

Haven't been there yet but gonna go check it out when Denton Hatcher plays on May 13.

ETA: Have always loved Red Dragon though and been quite a few times. One of my best memories was getting to see Guy Clark there two nights in a row.
