Studio mostly...or if live if that's all I can find on youtube for all the obscure crap I like.

A few oldies live are in my top 10:
- AC/DC - "If You Want Blood You Got It" (1978) - Bon Scott is off the chain.
- Judas Priest - "Unleashed In the East" (79) - Energy is unreal...they must have all been cranked up
- Ted Nugent - "Double Live Gonzo" That came out just before I saw him in SHREEEEEEEEEEEEVEport in about 1980. That guy has some lungs...

shite forgot the most important one: John Cash - Folsom Prison Blues...more soul than 10 Motown records.

Still some songs do not translate live

Eddie can't hit that note in Sirens, but he tries it every time.

I prefer State of Love and Trust live, because they have sped it up, and I think the changes sound better than the original version. They've done the same with I Got Id, but I prefer the slower, studio version.

Live is the natural habitat for a lot of the bands I like so if it's recorded well then that's my preference.

All jam band fans will say live. Most everyone else will say studio.

I mostly prefer studio, though I do a love a few live albums.
i know i'm in the minority, but some of my favorite WSP songs are album versions

The fact is, most bands/artists are not capable of replicating their studio sound on a consistent basis.

Some bands are absolutely exposed live.
