Holy HELL I would be SO bummed if this happened in my town. October 5th at The Tabernacle you have Slayer/Anthrax/Death Angel. Already saw Anthrax there with Lamb Of God but would LOVE to see Slayer there. The Tabernacle would be an awesome venue to see them in. Same night though you also have Clutch playing just seven miles away at The Buckhead Theatre. Ughh!!! Would SUCK to have to choose between these two shows.

If I lived there or were still working up there I'd probably have to base my decision on who I've seen or not. I've seen both Anthrax and Clutch, but not Slayer, so I would have to go with them.

I know there are a few Atlanta area MBers who will be having to make this choice. What's it gonna be for y'all?

Slightly off topic, but did you see Anthrax recently? They're playing here in September and I'm trying to decide if it's worth going.

Yes. In January with Lamb Of God at The Tabernacle. DEFINITELY worth checking out. They were awesome. If you're a fan going back to the 80's it's as close to the classic lineup as you'll see. Everybody but Dan Spitz.

Are you talking about the show at The Varsity on Oct. 6th? Or where if not? Is it a headlining show?

Act III is a phenomenal album. One of the best metal albums of the 90's. Never saw them live; would love to.

would suck even more to live in a crap town where you wouldn't get to see either one.

Yes its worth going to see Anthrax. I've only seen them once, six years ago with Slayer and Megadeth and they were great. Their last two albums are awesome as well.

Did you think I was taking a shot at Atlanta here or something? Couldn't be more wrong if so. I was up there for all of January and February and loved it.

It's a headlining show in Shreveport in September. Pretty small venue.

Dude that's all the better. I would say DO NOT miss it. I'm jealous as hell that they're headlining at The Varsity.

Being able to see Clutch in Orlando that same week is soothing that sting a little bit thank God.

I picked Slayer but it was before the Clutch show was announced. Would have liked to check out Zakk Sabbath and Kyng at the Clutch show. Also have Periphery at The Masquerade on Aug 5th and Gojira at The Tabernacle on Sept 25th

Yeah man I see that the concerts are picking back up up there very nicely. Awesome run coming up for y'all.

You know as well as anyone how much I enjoyed the live music scene up there.

oh no, absolutely not. I just meant that it's great that you have options like that to see things you like, compared to smaller towns where they may go 10 years between getting those kind of acts.

Personally, I would never choose attending a Clutch show over the chance to see three of the biggest names in thrash together at once.

Not my genre, but Tabernacle always has a far better energy than Buckhead Theater.

Something about how the crowd fits into BT makes it less festive than Tabernacle.

When in doubt, choose the venue.

Gotcha. And yeah you're right. Atlanta is an awesome city for good shows with some fantastic venues as well. I saw six shows up there in January and February alone. And there were more I would have liked to see if not for work, or money, or just being tired.

Was able to catch Slayer at Voodoo in 2014. Was an awesome show.

Edit: To add to this, it was really weird watching Rise Against and Slayer back to back on the same stage

Clutch w/ Zak and Kyng it's a no brainer really. Have you really never seen Anthrax or Slayer before? They've only toured constantly for 30 years+ come on man

Oh I've seen Anthrax five times. But sadly, no, I have not seen Slayer. I will say that I can count maybe twice in my life that they have played nearby, and those were both here in Jax in the late 90's and early 2000's. I had circumstances both times that prevented me from going. Tends to happen with marriage and two very young children. Actually, forgot that they played here at Rockville last year too, but again, had a major function for my daughter at her school that evening. Unlucky timing for me.

I am very much back in the concert game now though, and it feels AWESOME!!!

Hey Nacho!!! Holy hell, how funny the timing... I just got a deployment e-mail. Heading back up to Atlanta for work. Leaving tomorrow.

I can assure you I'll be looking at the concert calendar shortly.
