Corey Taylor to Kaye West: "You are not the greatest rock star of all time"

Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor is ready for Kanye West to “stop it.” The rapper headlined the 2015 Glastonbury Festival on June 27 and his performance certainly made an impact. Not only did he deal with a stage-crasher, West covered Queen’s song “Bohemian Rhapsody” and told the audience that they were “watching the greatest living rock star on the planet.” It’s that last statement that’s made some other rock stars in the industry stop and comment.
In a video interview for Music Choice, Taylor tells West to shut up, in a manner reminiscent of a teacher scolding a student. “Kanye, you are not – not – the greatest living rock star of all time,” states Taylor. “The fact that you had to tell people that, kinda says it all. You remind me of the guy who brags about p-ssy – they never get as much as they brag about. Stop it (claps) Stop it!”

Elvis, maybe The Beatles. Garth Brooks would probably be up there too.

I like Corey Taylor. I think he's an immensely talented vocalist with pretty impressive range.
However, he's a shitty lyricist and has no idea how to commit to a particular style or sound. He's ruined Slipknot by attempting to form a hybrid of Stone Sour and old school Slipknot and it's just not that good.
What the frick is the point of him calling out Kanye? Sure Kanye's an arse, but who the hell cares?

Too be a rock star don't you have to play rock music? Or am I wrong on that?

He has sold more records than anyone, he regularly sells out multiple nights in the biggest arenas in the country. Even non-country fans love his live show. I'm not a fan myself but I have to give him props. If Kanye and other rappers can be rock stars, so can Garth.

Kanye is definitely a bigger and more legendary music presence than Corey fricking Taylor
The list of still-performing "Rock Stars" who might - MIGHT be "greater" than Kanye is small - McCartney and Elton John don't count as they are folk singers at this point. And personally I think that Kanye is more legendary than 2/3rds of the performers listed below...
Mick Jagger
Keith Richards
Bono
Eddie Vedder
Dude from Muse
Thom York
Chris Martin
Brandon Flowers
Jay Z

Just for all around bona fides and persona, Keith Richards for me. He epitomizes A list rock star. And Kanye couldn't hold David Lee Roth's jock.

I accidentally left Liam Gallagher off the list. He's the best rock star of my generation. Knocks up bishes, takes hard drugs, gets kicked off airlines, etc. etc.

I read an old interview somewhere where they asked Richards why he didn't end up overdosing like some musicians of his generation and he said that he used largely for creative purposes and when he was doing heroin would carefully measure and document the doses he would take so that he did not do something stupid. Even if he had quit for awhile he would factor that in when he started using again so that he wouldn't take too large of a dose due to tolerance levels. I had to respect that on some level.
