He's trying to make a living. I get it. He's got kids and a wife. But he doesn't hold a candle to what sturgill is doing currently. I don't think anyone does especially in that genre.

Stapleton is a more commercial version of Jamey Johnson?
Kind of how I feel about him. I heard Nobody to Blame a good bit on XM, and he sort of reminded me of Travis Tritt in a way. So I previewed a few tracks off of Parachute, and after the 3rd or 4th one that I liked, I bought the album. Pretty solid start to finish. I didn't realize he sounded more like Jamey Johnson until I listened to the whole album, and I love that style of country music, so I loved Traveler. Whiskey and You is probably my favorite, and I hated the Tim McGraw version. Tennessee Whiskey is another great one. That older sound just appeals to me more.
Now don't get me wrong, I also enjoy Sam Hunt and the occasional Bro Country song, being the Alabama redneck that I am, but Stapleton just has that classic sound. I didn't realize how big he had gotten in country until I started listening to some of the XM shows and they were all talking about award nominations. I for one am glad that this type of music is getting attention.
