Just in case anyone was wondering.

Tom Scholz and Gary Pihl have not lost a step. They were phenomenal.

Tommy DeCarlo was very good as well. He's a good choice to carry on after Delp.

They just steamrolled through two hours of hits. Really tight.

Tom Scholz "is" Boston, just like Fagan and Becker are Steely Dan, the other spots in the band can be filled by anybody.

I casually wanted to see them, and I agree--maybe best 'sounding' concert ever. Way better than I thought.

I saw them last month in Nashville, and I have to agree. Great show. I was surprised how good it was.

They actually sounded just like the recordings. That female in the band was the secret weapon. She nailed all the high vocal harmonies, played keys, and switched to the tele when they needed three part harmonies on guitar or when Scholz was tearing up that space-organ.

And 4 of the 6 band members played keys at various points. Those were serious musicians.

I saw them last year during their 40th anniversary tour, and I actually enjoyed it more than when I saw them on the Third Stage tour. Brad Delp will always be missed, but the "new" guy was more than adequate, and the band was tight as hell, possibly as tight as they've ever been. They're long overdue for a BluRay release...maybe they could sweeten the deal by including some Delp footage in the special features...

I wish Delp could've lived to be 100. But on a professional level, his voice was getting pretty fried. Don't know how much of a future he would've had in Boston at this point TBH. They probably could've pieced together his strongest vocal bits if he were alive and got involved in another Boston studio album...but live, I don't know if he could've pulled it off anymore. Hell, the last couple of tours he was on, he needed some other onstage vocalists to help him with the heavy lifting. Old age seems to hit the lead singers the hardest...unless you're Robin Zander, whose voice seems to be frozen in time, lol

If by "Boston" you mean "The Tom Scholz Band" - then good on them.

But, when a truly unique vocalist comes along like Brad Delp - I don't like to toss around the word "irreplaceable" but it is what it is.

To be completely fair to Scholz - he is a supremely talented musician and a legitimate genius. He has always surrounded himself with the best. I just wish he would have ditched the Boston tag after Brad died and called it, "The Tom Scholz Band, featuring the songs of Boston."

But, the band name has a greater marketable value than his, so I'm not going to be too critical of a guy trying to make a living.

Gary Pihl has been a Boston guitarist since 1985 ... so over 30 years. Kinda like saying Ron Wood isn't really a Rolling Stone, he's "only" been with them since 1975 (over 40 years.) At some point ... you in the group.

The chick keyboardist has been with Boston on and off since 2002; drummer Jeff Neal has been with them since 2002 ... so that's 15 years.

The singer deal has a Journey feel to it ... a fan becomes lead singer. I thought the guy was good, I appreciated the fact he was unpretentious and just sang the songs, and sang them well.

I was never a huge huge Boston fan but did like them back in the day, and was really glad to see and hear in the Saenger that they can still reproduce their sound. It was a great concert.

He was fantastic. He's a solid guitarist in his own right.

I can't stand the comment "Scholz is Boston he can get any other musicians it doesn't matter". That's a bullshite opinion of music.

I stand by the comment, if Tom Scholz were to leave this group and they continued to perform without him would they would be nothing but a Boston tribute band.
