And if we're going down that rabbit hole, I'd say TECHNICALLY, the best instrumental piece of all time is some classical song that none of us have opened our mind wide enough to see.

In that regard, I'll put up Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Even though he ended up hating it, it's a masterpiece. It's a story of triumph and defeat. In places it's both quiet, loud, fast and slow. At different times during the score, it features strings, percussion, brass, traditional folk dances, two national anthems, church bells and even live cannons. And in it's 15-18 min run time, it only repeats a rhythm once.

Tchaikovsky - 1812 Overture

I was gong to say Schubert's 8th. Love me some Egmont Overture as well. Rabbit hole indeed. Where's Leopold?

Madhouse "10"

Not sure if you are into kind of funky jazzy type instrumental recordings. I first heard this back in the late 80's. The song listed as "10" was one of my favorites. All of the songs are listed as a number. I later learned that Prince was behind the creation of the albums. All those years and never knew this.

Some ones that I don't think have been mentioned off the top of my head:

The Swan -- Saint-Saens
Windy and Warm -- Doc Watson
La Femme D'Argent

This thread will make a cool Spotify list.
