people that bitch about the "local music scene in BR" don't actually go to see bands play.

there's a ton of good bands in BR.

Doc, settle down. I've seen enough in BR as well as other cities to know how shitty this towns scene is. Everybody gets it-you're the know it all here and anyone who doesn't see it your way is an idiot. Meriwether is not the Meriwether of old either. Don't kid yourself. Also, they play to 200+? That's impressive? Really? What made Addavoy/ABM so good was they had melodies in their songs. Nobody here has melody. Don't kid yourself.

Since everyone is rock on the BR scene like you say, here are 2 singer/songwriters in BR that are very good....and not bad looking either.

Jodi James

Kristin Diable

Kristin is now out of New Orleans but is from BR and started out here.

My buddy Steven is their drummer. They are definitely a fun show to see. Also, plenty of drunk hipster chicks to choose from. Can you say "low-hanging fruit"?

No, it was crazy how quickly Drew's ego exploded when they got signed. Soulhouse used to be so much fun.

Jason Martin and the Corner Pocket and The Hitchhiker are my two favorite locals right now. Great melodies and really fun live shows.

I know him personally and his ego really didn't explode at all he's still the same old drew.

Old drunmer quit to tour with 10 years, Skip joined, Steve quit, josh quit to be a family man, drews brother joined on drums, and Josiah joined on bass. Now it's Brent from high top kicks on bass, and Josiah on guitar.

They sounded great the other night.

There's a ton of talented songwriters in BR

People that like to shite on local bands, usually couldn't name more than one or two of them.

Wait how long has Josiah been playing with Meriwether? I was never really a fan so I never kept up with them but I didn't know Josiah was involved with them.

We are talking about the same Josiah right? Godspeed?

They were on suretone and shelved.

Their biggest mistake was signing a FIVE record deal where the label owned all the songs.

Oh ok. When I heard bass and Josiah I jumped to conclusions, conclusions that I feel to be perfectly rational dammit
