Yep, along with The Move, Small Faces, not to mention Slade, T Rex & Roxy Music were megastars in the UK.

Robbie Williams - I've seen videos of the guys concerts and he is quite remarkable live. I dug into his discography and found some good stuff (once you get past the tongue in cheek kinda stuff). The album Reality Killed The Video Star is very good. He also loves Sinatra and has done two albums of swing type material

Yeah, this is my family road trip music. Basically, my 7 year old daughter can enjoy the poppiness of it while I can enjoy the musicianship of it.

Rodriguez was a sensation in South Africa but was a completely unknown day laborer in Detroit (and still is).

Muse, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, and Thin Lizzie don't count. Those aren't HUGE in the states, but they're/were all plenty big here.
Robbie Williams though is a GREAT example. He was absolutely enormous in the UK, but not one person in the US cares about him.
Blur had Song #2 make it on the radio here, but they're considered a one hit wonder of no significance. In the UK their whole catalog is beloved and they were one of the biggest bands of that generation.
Similar to Blur because they were out at the same time: Pulp. Pulp sold 10 million records! I bet maybe 7 of them were sold in the US.
