Not sure if Keidis was sick or just having an off night, but it was dreadful.
That's actually fairly typical. Keidis simply isn't a good singer.

Sonic Youth. I've tried. I own four of their albums.
I call myself a fan only because the handful of songs I like, I really like. Pretty much hate everything else. Some unlistenable noise on every album. Goo comes the closest to being solid beginning to end, and even it fails.

Amongst my friends, it is. They are shocked by my dislike of Sonic Youth. They all also pretty much universally hate RHCP. Which is a shame, I rather like the Peppers.

BSSM is a great album fwiw.
I saw them at Voodoo and will probably never again simple because they are far past their prime and their new guitarist is a fgt.

RHCP was much better when they were an 80's funkpunk fusion band. It started going downhill at BSSM

That's all I can think of as far as cocaine music. Disco I guess?

If I had to guess, a lot of the 80's new wave artists were probably huge coke heads.
But one of the most famous albums made entirely off of cocaine was "Rumors" by Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham would stay up for hours in the studio drinking wine and snorting coke. The quintessential Danman weekend

They have some wonderfully intricate music if you really give them a listen. And Berninger's lyrics cut right to the heart. I was off-put by his voice when I first listened to them years ago, but I've grown to really love them.
The National are a band for guys between the ages of 30 and 40/45. I can understand why anyone else is put off.
Pure genius though, imo.
