Finally got everything setup! Debut Carbon Esprit, Cambridge 551p preamp, Yamaha amp and speakers (currently my home theater surround sound). Probably going to get new speakers around Christmas

Willie Nelson "Phases and Stages", Rhino Records reissue
This concept album narrates the story of a divorce, with side A telling the woman's story and side B telling the man's.

Possibly one of the best live LPs I own--it never gets old...
The Fish--"New Years Eve 1995" from Madison Square Garden...entire show on a Limited 6 LP box (5000) from RSD 2015 on JEMP Records (Phish's label).

Added BB King live at the Regal.
I'll likely be playing that one in a bit

Keeping it in 1968...
The Rolling Stones "Beggars Banquet", 2013 ABKCO Records reissue on clear vinyl.
What I like about this reissue is it corrected a flaw in the original album by restoring each song to its slightly faster speed. Bc of a mastering error, this great album was heard for over 30 yrs at a slower speed than it was recorded! This affected not only the tempo, but the key of each song as well. It also features the cover that was initially rejected. As soon as "Sympathy For the Devil" begins to fade in, you know you're about to hear something special...

Man, I don't know if it's the pre-amp, the power amp, or the combination, but man these Dali's are now showing me what they're made of...

Yeah--new audio gear kinda makes you want to relisten to your entire music library all over again.
You will begin to notice subtleties on certain recordings you never noticed before. It is amazing how a well designed/built pre amp and power amp can take control of a loudspeaker to reveal what they are truly capeable of.
Just wait and hear what the Odyssey will do...
The biggest "holy crap" moment I ever had was replacing my Focal Electra 926 speakers (2 x 7" woofers) with the big Focal Utopias (11" woofer)...the difference in the low end was drastic and immediate. I finally realized all the low end in every recording. There is no replacement for displacement.

Gettin a little groovy tonight with Uncle Jerry and his side band...
Jerry Garcia Band and Bob Weir/Rob Wasserman--"Fall 1989:The Long Island Sound"
6 CD box taken from newly mastered soundboards from the fall of 1989 from JGB shows and Weir/Wasserman shows.
Both acts performed at Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, CT (9/5/89), and Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, NY (9/6/89), and we're captured in their entirety.
ATO Records, 2013.
Man this Garcia Band stuff has some soul--beautiful playing here.

what are some of your go-to vinyl shops in New Orleans?
I just ordered Belle and Sebastian "Tigermilk" on Amazon (never heard the record, so it'll be a true first listen when it arrives tomorrow). I love the convenience of Amazon, but it doesn't compare To actually browsing through a music shop. Ive been to Captain's in Mid City, which was cool, but the selection was somewhat limited.
Anyone else in the GNO area, feel free to chime in!
