When they came out they were some of the heaviest shite.

Saw them not too long ago. They sound a million times better than anything Max is doing today. Desperate Cry especially sounded great live.

Hell yeah!! Saw 'em here in Dallas two weeks ago opening for Testament. Badass. Posted video of Roots Bloody Roots here shortly after they played.

I was also lucky enough (EXTREMELY lucky) to see them on the Arise tour in '91 in a club in Jacksonville.

I sure would have loved to see the Return to Roots tour with Igor though. Got to figure that was pretty fantastic.

Nope. Max was half asleep as usual. Derek Green killed it when they closed with Roots. Sounded way better than Max.

Ahh so you caught that tour. Well that sucks. Yeah I agree. Derek more than did it justice. Was very impressed. That sucks about Max though. He was pretty engaged when I saw Soulfly in Jax Beach. But that was nearly ten years ago now.

I only acknowledge Sepultura with both Cavaleras. In particular, Igor's drumming is what made them interesting.

Agree 100%. His incorporation of those traditional Brazilian/South American rhythms made them stand out from the other numerous 90's death/thrash.

You shouldn't. Derek has been in the band longer and put out more albums. They have just as much good material with Derek as with Max, if not more. The current drummer is much better than Igor.

Very underrated. Max's son plays with Soul Fly just not the same.
