My favorite brand of music...

Lightnin ' Hopkins
Blind Willie Johnson
John Lee Hooker
All the cats from Mississippi... allll of em.

Op, sometime you should check out an album done at Angola, i think it's called Angola Prisoner Blues... done back around the 30s or 40s. Real old time blues sung by dudes draped in it.

I could listen to old blues 24/7, and when I play at home on my porch, i always gravitate back to some combo of E, A and B7, just to get my head right!

No mention of the GOAT, Robert Johnson? Dude sold his fricking soul to the Devil, the least you could do was mention him.

But for real though, y'all should all go listen to as much Junior Kimbrough as possible.

Junior is definitely the man. Along with RL Burnside and most of the other Hill Country dudes.

I've got A arse Pocket of Whiskey on vinyl. Burnside was raw as hell as an artist.

Yea I have that cd. RL didn't frick around, and I'm pretty sure he was in a gunfight or two. Not to mention, I love the sumbitch because RL was my grandfather's name as well...

If I were to vote for the GOAT of Delta blues, it wouldn't be Johnson.

It would be Son House.

I got on a Lightnin Hopkins kick several years back. I own every CD he ever put out ( over 50) and still listen to him daily. This cat made a lifelong career out of 3 tunes. Slo blues in E, slo blues in A and rock/swing/shuffle in E. He may have only known 3 songs, but he never played the same lick twice. Simply badass!

Charley Patton was no slouch.

Big Joe Williams gets a mention

Skip James as well.

Love that old stuff.
