I'm gonna see him out here in Florida in a few weeks. Any reviews would be cool.

I hate burst your bubble but every show I've seen him at varsity has gotten progressively worse. I've grown to hate him.

Exactly. This isn't exactly 2003. Years have passed him by.

Well, that's disappointing. Father in law wanted to go, and I figured "what the hell, I like his songs". Oh well. Thanks

I'm going in Atlanta, I don't know where all this "he's terrible now" stuff comes from.

I haven't seen him in 18 months or so, but I've seen him 10-15 times and haven't noticed any real drop off.

I agree. I saw him a couple months ago in Dallas, and he was fine. I saw him at the varsity probably 4 times in the last 10 years and those shows were always great.

As long as he still has the same backing band, the show will be worth the price of admission.

I would go just to see WCG, my favorite act on the Texas scene currently. Great show

A couple of frat guys from Abilene
Drove all night to see Robert Earl Keen
At the K-pei swine and sworay dance-
They wore baseball caps and khaki pants-

Sorry, but the OP reminded me of Todd Snider's BEER RUN.

REK's last album (2015) was bluegrass-centric. If you saw the band (which was not his normal band) during the tour touting Happy Prisoner: the Bluegrass Sessions, you may have been disappointed. It was a good show, but it was a different show.

His more recent shows now include more of his traditional fare ... certainly worth a night out.

The last time I saw REK, about a year ago, was probably the best concert I've ever seen him put on. And I've seen him a shitton.
