Sunday is super stacked, Foo Fighters and Paramore to close with Franz Ferdinand, Pixies, The Revivalists, and I’m sure I missed a few more on the same day. Also Korn on Saturday night and Shaq being a DJ is going to be nuts

Went from 2012-2016. Fantastic fest and ranks among the best and I’ve done a ton of them. Weather can be in the 40s or upper 90s, grounds can be super muddy or super dusty but if you prepare accordingly you will be fine either way.
Try and arrive early so you don’t have to wait hours on the interstate to get in (also read the message board inforoo and/or Reddit on your way up as lots of updates come from ppl inside the gates).
This fest is all about pacing because it really doesn’t shutdown once you arrive. Grab a nap under one of the big trees out there and don’t over do it during the day as most of the magic happens in the evening/nighttime.
There are no PIT tickets for What and Which stages. Get there early for a band you want to see and you will see lines forming for the acts playing there (they clear the pit after every act).
Eat multiple spicy pies and Amish donuts and make friends with your neighbors and check out all the different pods throughout the campgrounds. You are going to have a BLAST!

I attended the first one in 2002. Such a great time. Like the poster above said, pace yourself. Lots of sunscreen, lots of water, comfortable walking shoes.
Im certain they’ve updated the toilet and traffic situations since then. So that’s good.
If you are in a tent be prepared for 85 degrees at 8am. So lack of sleep can be an issue, especially after two or three days of partying late into the night. It’s a young person’s game, no doubt.

I went back in 2007 and 2008. Right around the time they started to get to be a huge deal.

Try to get there early to avoid traffic. I sat in traffic weaving through a small town for miles leading into the fest/camp grounds. To save a few bucks, I bought some bootleg tees from vendors lined up outside the fest leading in instead of paying 40-50 bucks for a tshirt.

A little piece of advice if you're camping without any special VIP or bathroom benefits: Keep and eye out for the sanitation trucks that empty and service the port-o-lets and try and time your dumps to get in there as soon as they finish. Nothing better than crapping in a pristine port-o-let vs one filled with shite that's been baking in the sun.

Have fun!

(not sure if shakedown is still a thing but you can find basically anything you want there..... I passed on the hard stuff and just stuck to weed.)

I went to the first one. It was a great time but it was hot and muggy as hell. I did nothing but sweat the whole time I was there. They didn’t have showers. I brought two buckets and filled them with water so I could give myself a sponge bath in my tent. I couldn’t even dry myself off. There wasn’t enough Extra Strength Gold Bond Powder in the world...

I haven’t been back.

I hope you’re like 18 baw

It’d be weird to go now as an adult

It was fun a long time ago though

Agreed

Bonnaroo started an unfortunate trend with these DJs.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Going with a few of my friends and we're all about 30. If you're going out and having fun, who the hell cares how old you are?

We'll show the youngsters how to do it anyway.

I went awhile ago when it was jam band/edm focused still.

From what I recall, it was way hotter than I figured it would be for June in Tennessee (compared to South Louisiana). Definitely recommend going in an RV and not camping outside.

I was going to point out how wrong this statement is (the Pixies first album came out in '87 and Surfer Rosa came out in '88) but then i noticed the headliners look really terrible and music that only young people would like. How do they push Pixies down the card six rows?

I've been to 3, but the most recent was over a decade ago. Just looked at this year's lineup, and there are a couple of shows I'd like to see:

Foo Fighters
My Morning Jacket
Sheryl Crow
Tyler Childers
Umphrey's McGee

But all in all, a pretty thin lineup. I can tell you that when I was there it was crazy hot, humid, dusty/dirty...but it was all offset by some awesome music.

I was at the first one (one of Mikey's last stands), but haven't been back. Imagine it's quite a bit different now lol.
