Best of luck to you.

I caught him in Bay St. Louis over the summer at a little festival. A storm rolled in so Gregg got piss drunk thinking that it was going to be cancelled, I assume. Ended up delaying his set for 3 hours while they attempted to sober him up. He looked so bad that they wouldn't turn on any of the stage lights while he sand. Only this massive fricking light bulb fixture that basically blinded you. CptFgt got nice and hammered as well so it didn't sound terrible, but you could tell he was off.

So yeah all that being said, I hope it works out for you

Seen the Allman brothers a few times in the past decade. Always had a good time, but always sounded sterile--for example, listen to the Live at the Beacon Theatre and then then Filmore album--two completely different sounds and energy. I don't know if it's over production or having a lineup with studio musicians, but I never felt like it lived up to my expectations.

Though that's probably also due to the fact that the Filmore album is possibly the greatest live album ever recorded.

Plus aging 30 years and losing/not having 3 key members of the band..

Well obviously. But Metallica is getting up there in years and they've melted my face both times I've seen them.

Same with Levon Helm--he killed it at the Ryman.

Like I said-- always had a good time. Just kinda seemed like he was going through the motions.

I too have seen the ABB a few times & the thing that makes the difference from a "going thru the motions" show & a classic show is the opening act. The better the opener the better the show.

Gregg was in good form tonight, happy and positive. He had a horn section, and re arranged all the old favorites and gave the audience the iconic moments they wanted. Midnight Rider, with a really haunting trumpet part really stood out to me. Gregg's 68 so he has to pace himself but his vocals were strong, and better as the night went on. His band were total pros, like you'd expect, they obviously have to prop him up a bit and provide the energy a 68 year old man can't.

Old 50 year ol hobag jumped on stage for a hug Security took her out like she was attacking the Pope.

Hasn't he been sober for decades now??

I know he is very old/sick and has been cancelling shows for the last few years. But I didn't know he is off the wagon???

Completely agree with the assessment of the show. Great energy and really really tight backup band to go with Gregg vocals. I've been going to ABB and GA shows since 1970 and this one ranks pretty high.

Great show by Gregg but why in the hell was it more than half empty?

No, just don't remember a horn section in the Allman Bros, sure it was lovely.

God forbid that a band change a little bit after 45 years...

What kind of peanut brain would want to hear the same song played over and over year after year the same exact way?

Who said anything about The Allman Brothers? We were talking about The Gregg Allman concert. But sure, be that guy that is hyper-critical about things he knows nothing about. We need more guys like that .

By the way, just so you know, The Allman Brothers have worked a horn section into their gigs for years. As have Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks. Why wouldn't they? LINK

Edit-Sorry for being so irrationally grouchy bro. Bad day.

Last show I saw there was Stone Temple Pilots a few years ago.

They did such a poor job promoting it that I didn't know about the show until the day before. They dropped ticket prices in half, and when that didn't work, there were people giving away tickets outside of the arena the afternoon before the show.

I don't know if that falls more on the band or the river center, but I remember the arena being more than half empty.
