They seem like they'd be a great live band.

Yeah. Kinda boring, but not awful or anything.

I was told they are horrible live. This was an opinion from 1997 however.

Thats about when I saw them... I can't really remember what I thought of 'em TBH... I think that was one of the last times I smoked the weed... probably explains it..

i saw them at a festival, they were OK. nothing special. Spoon was on before them and they blew them out of the water. we left about 3/4 of the way through to beat the traffic.

They sound pretty much exactly how you'd imagine. Nothing out of this world, but fun.

I saw them in 1999 in San Diego. They sounded amazing. Flawless.

Their bass guitar player is gifted.

Deluna 2 years before the festival went off and died. Boring as all get up. Luckily everyone's on a literal beach so didn't matter one bit.

Um...that means they're a great live band. I saw them in Memphis circa 2000 and they were fantastic. That being said, I'm a Cake fan and could be biased here.

I actually saw Cake at the Aspen Jazz Fest in 2004. They put on a pretty good show. I enjoyed it.

The Aspen fest has a really dumb practice of dividing the audience down the middle of the stage, VIPs on one side, and general admission serfs on the other. It made for a really awkward audience, because one side of the crowd is packed, and the other is really sparse lah-dee-dah types.

Well, lead singer John McCrea didn't care for the crowd arrangement, so he kept mocking the VIPs, and even turned and faced just the general admission section for most of the show. He even had some VIP douche try to fight him after the show because of it. It was a good time.

Caught them in 2001 downtown nashville. Superdrag opened. One of the favorite shows of my life.

No it doesn't. A great live band brings something else than a note for note regurgitation to their shows.

I love Cake....but they are boring live. I've seen them 3 times hoping the next show would be better.....they are like Dinosaur Jr in that respect. I love J Macis albums but live he sucks.
