I like him. I'm mixed on country generally. Love red dirt/Texas music, love 90s style country, hate most modern country, don't really like classic country or classic country resurgence.

He's cringeworthy to me. Wannabe outlaw so bad. Yea, out of most of what's played on country radio he isn't bad but I still don't care for the guy.

Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Stapleton, John Moreland are more my style

Same, but I've only heard one of his songs on some Siruius channel. It was so bad I had to look at who it was. Came across as a fake country accent, and the lyrics on the song were just atrocious.

I've been a huge fan since his first album. I understand not everyone may like him, but there is no denying he tries to do his own thing and not completely sellout to "bro country".

I think he tries a little too hard to be a rebel. It's just not that authentic and his image is laughable.

That said, he's not a terrible writer and he puts out pretty solid music, especially for radio country.

I like his music. He has his own thing. I wouldn't call it bro country or outlaw country.

He is a huge pot head that just likes to jam. He's got a solid catalog of music.

That one song I heard was definitely bro country. I looked it up and the song was Drink In My Hand. Here are the lyrics. Just terrible.

Early monday morning to friday at five,
Man I work work work but I don't climb climb climb
Boss man can shove that over time up his can,
All I wanna do is put a drink in my hand

Fill it up or throw it down,
I got a forty hour week worth of trouble to drown
No need to complicate it, I'm a simple man,
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Yea the parking lot is muddy can't get to the door,
I take my jacked up drop er down in 4x4
She'll down a long neck, warm up the band,
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Fill it up or throw it down,
I'm about to tear a new one in this old town
5 4 3 2 1 I'm a rocket man,
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Make me want to go ouuh ouhhh when you dance like that,
You got that little tattoo playing peeky boo on your back
If you want to impress me baby here's my plan,
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Fill it up or throw it down,
When you drive me home take the long way around
You be my Lois Lane I'll be your Super Man,
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

My head monday morning as that alarm clock sings,
It goes bang bang bang while it ring ring rings
Yeah I'm ready to roll if you wanna rock again,
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Fill it up or throw it down,
I got a little hungover still hanging around
Yeah that hair of a dog is howling hey there man,
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Yea that hair of a dog is howling hey there man,
All you got to do is put a drink in my hand

Haaaouuhhh Yeaaa

He thinks he's like David Allan Coe, but he's really like Jason Aldean.

he is a solid country singer for what is passing as country in Nashville these days. I have listened to his last 2 albums and like a number of songs. Home boy being a personal favorite

I am a fan. I saw him live and he put on a really good show. It was right when he was getting big and had a lot of rockin' songs.

Wannabe outlaw????

That comment couldn't be more wrong.

An artist that writes his own plays his own. An artist that literally said, "frick you" to mainstream country. Why don't you think he ever wins awards? Because he does what he wants and his way. Hmmmm, that kinda sounds like what the old country boys did back in the day. Ya know, the ones that were considered the "outlaws". But yeah, go ahead and preach your uneducated comments.

Eric Church is highly overrated. I've tried to give him a chance, but at it's core, his music is bro country. He's not who Nashville tries to portray him as.

The same can be said about Chris Stapleton. I've given him a try with an open mind, because of all the hype, but his music just doesn't have it either.
