So Pearl Jam played for 3 nights in New Orleans back in 1993 for the Vs. tour. Urge Overkill opened up:

They made a follow up album that flopped and one of the guys got into heroin.

Their follow up album to Saturation (Exit the Dragon) was not well received at all. To me, it was one of those albums that got better as it aged. And in the middle of the tour for that album, UO icon drummer Blackie O'Nassis got in trouble for heroin. It was a disaster and they never really recovered from it.

They got back together a few years ago on a reunion tour, minus Blackie O'Nassis. They even recorded a new album. I think a lot of UO fans wanted to see the original lineup, and so the interest just wasn't really there.

Excellent. I was there. This was the show where that gigantic guy "Zook" that used to work the door at the Tiger crowd surfed and the whole place was gawking at him. He was like 7 feet tall and 400 pounds; took about 15 guys to hold him up. I believe this is also the show where Eddie Vedder ended up getting in a fist fight in the quarter afterwards.

Good times.

I was there for the 2nd night. Eddie got in a fight at the Blue Crystal on Decatur after the first night.

I remember that guy. He was a solid mass of fat and muscle. I couldn't imagine holding him up...

I was at that first show. Best concert I've seen in my life. My parents talked me into bringing my younger sister and paid for us to get a hotel room. After the show, we ended up hanging out drinking beers. That was about the last good time we had together -- we haven't spoken to each other in about 20 years.
