Lol you could easily make some top notch literal lyric videos with Tool songs. One of my favorite bands of all time but the lyrics are fairly easy to misinterpret. I swear at one point on the live version of Third Eye from Salival it sounds like Maynard says under his breath "throw a drumstick at my head".....hell, maybe that actually is what he's saying?...

Tool is one of those bands that can have a song you initially ffwd thru (Jimmy, Bottom, etc.) only to come back months...years...decades later and find yourself hitting repeat on those very same tunes.
It's amazing.
But, yeah. 46 & 2 has always been a fav.

Why would you fast forward Jimmy?
One of my favorite tool songs.
May be the most intensly personal song Maybard ever wrote with the possible exception of the Wings for Marie songs.

Lately, I've been listening to Lateralus as an entire album and have been digging Ticks and Leeches.
I think it's one of the only CDs I still have
Stays in my car. I like The Patient as well

I have an old school 5 cd changer in my car. All filled with Tool cd's since the bungholes won't let their music stream.

The drummer and bass player were easily professional quality session musicians in middle school. The singer already fronts a band. O'Keefe is doing G-d's work, y'all.

sorry to sidetrack a bit...
when y'all listen to Lateralus, do you play through it in album order, or the rearranged "Holy Gift" order?

I play it in reverse, or the "Sularetal" order.

I play it in album order. I listened to it in album order because of this thread yesterday. I'm going to try Holy Gift now, just because I'm thinking about it.

FWIW, Maynard says occultism is fear and this is all bullshite.
But, I agree the album flows better with this sequence, than the order on the album. Significantly so, and I listen to it, in its entirety all the time.

Something I'm coming to appreciate recently - Adam Jones really does a man's job on these records. The "frame" (bass and drums) is so compelling on these records, it's easy to overlook his contributions to the melody. Maynard does what Maynard does, but he would flail around and the songs would have no melody if it weren't for Jones.
I didn't start listening to Tool in any significant way until 2003 and only now I'm coming to appreciate this underrated member of the band.
