So I just got into a rush kick lately after I finished reading Ready Player One and I gotta say they are indeed the cats vagina. 2112 and the album Rush are the shite.

That is all.

**Fly By Night is equally amazing. Always been one of my favorites among so many of theirs.

Rush might be the most musically talented band of all time.

Man I never really listened to them beside their radio hits and I've been digging through their stuff the past few days and been super impressed. It's amazing they were able to crank out those kinds of sounds with only 3 people.

My brother played it in his room when it first came out . I was literally scared by it - I thought it sounded evil . I was pretty sure the screamy guy was going to come through the speaker and eat my heart . And there were black lights and posters and shag carpet and candles and all kinds of weirdness going on that I associated with that album. Not like the top 40 stuff I was used to hearing on WLCS , that's for sure.

For white kids of my era, Rush was a Right of passage, a way of life . Whatever we did , Rush went with us. And 2112 was kind of the source material/mother lode until Moving Pictures came out, and then somehow Rush got even bigger . But true Rush fans always went back to 2112 on the reg. And every one of us alternated between air guitar and air drums . Every lick.

Am I the only one that prefers side two of 2112?

We're on a train to Bangkok
Aboard the Thailand Express...

Side 2 is great.

A Passage to Bangkok, The Twilight Zone, Something for Nothing...classic Rush.

Love Rush, seen 'em 7 times over the years, but I can only sit through bits & pieces of 2112. It's an important album in that the band was starting to find their own way, but IMO things really didn't start taking off until their next album (A Farewell To Kings) and beyond...not saying there isn't anything worth listening to before that (man, I really wish they would've busted out "Lessons", or "In The End" from the Fly By Night album on one of those final tours), but Farewell was their first complete album to me...

I've seen RUSH 12 times. The first time was during the Permanent Waves tour. Every time I saw them, they played some form of 2112, and the audience would go bezerk.

2112 came as the Record label pressured the band for more radio friendly stuff, and the walked out of the studio with a masterpiece.

As a lifelong Rush fan, didn't know this until I recently watched, Beyond The Lighted Stage on Netflix. Great doc for Rush fans. Thank God they stuck to their guns and didn't cave in to the record execs' wishes.
