Minus Beck and Outkast, all of these suggested bands are the reason why Voodoo is a disappointment

Different strokes for different folks. Outkast and Beck are basically token festival acts at this point.

I'd love to see Outkast, being a longtime fan and all. But hip hop shows as a rule are pretty terrible live.

And I've seen Beck. Big time meh. And I am a Beck fan.

And then I couldn't even name a song by Foo Fighters except "My Hero" because it's in Not Another Teen Movie and I've seen that movie about 100000 times.

Outkast was incredible at Hangout.

Disagree. I really enjoyed his opening slot for Radiohead at Roo 06.

If you say so bro

They were TERRIBLE at Coachella

And even a "good" hip hop show is still nothing that is going to convince me to go to some Chadfest

Beck, Outkast, QOSA and Foo Fighters would get me back to Voodoo.

Were you there? I agree though. Their hangout set was great. Very happy to cross them off my list of acts to see

Probably the only reason I will go to at least one day of Voodoo fest

I saw the last Beastie Boys show. Maybe I can see the last Outkast show too.

Voodoo isn't really a 'Chadfest' a la Hangout. It definitely has a weird crowd, and is the only place I still see 'goth' kidz. As with anything the crowd always depends on the artists playing. At Neil Young in 2012 (fantastic show btw) the crowd was as good as it gets. I didn't go this past year but I doubt NIN was filled with Chads.

It is literally in my backyard so I am a bit of a homer for it, plus I have had some great times there like The Meters & RHCP superjam in 06, Rage Against the Machine in 07, Ween in 09, the aforementioned Neil Young, etc....

RATM was wild. I was way too young to be in that crowd

My friend came down from Athens for RATM and got sucker punched & knocked out by some random douche about 30 seconds before the band came on

Does Voodoo still have a good bit of electronic stuff?

Reminds me of that video that came out a week or so ago with dubstep kidz moshing in a circle (because that's a thing now apparently with dubstep) and some dude just walking out and just sucker punching the shite out of some kid in the circle and knocking him out. It was fricked up.

I don't understand moshing. I don't think I ever will understand it.

RAGE in 07 was great.

I know hip hop is terrible live but would Outkast not be an exception to that?

Probably the most fun I've ever had at a concert was front row at a Rusko show a few years ago. If you're on the right drugs dubstep shows can be fun. My like super anti-dubstep friend was even raging harder than I was.

Like I'd go see Bassnectar if he came around here. I don't care if that makes me a Chad/n00b. Those shows are fun as frick.

He closed out Voodoo last year. My living room was shaking it was so loud. I heard it sucked for the concurrent Dr John superjam because the Bassnectar sound carried over so much.

I saw Bassnectar at the Varsity a few years ago and it was a good time. I've never seen so many people and so many lights crammed into that place.

I actually saw him again at Hangout '11 at the late night how with Beats Antique. Me and buddy were trippin pretty hard and snuck in the tent on our 3rd try it was a good time. Those pink elephants were badass
