It was discussed in the trailer thread that I had bumped, but no one had seen it, yet.

Its probably funny but man is he late capitalizing on that joke.

As the previous poster said:

Who?

Strike while the iron is hot. I mean he was apparently tired of telling The Machine story 10 years ago.

That's what unfunny people like you thought about Hot Tub Time Machine and it's was one of the funniest movies of recent years.

I was actually surprised they bought so much commercial time for it.

It's likely not one of those movies that's made for a box office splash, but if it has any quality it will continue on as a beloved piece in perpetuity.

Or it could suck. Bert's schtick is really hit or miss for me so I could see a movie of him being tiresome.

1) that movie is almost 15 years old
2) I guarantee no one will be talking positively about “the machine” in 15 years

I went and saw it this weekend. It’s exactly what you expect it to be. An “over the top Will Ferrell-esque” style movie. Had its funny moments. Some were forced, but some landed. My favorite parts were the Easter egg nods to Segura, and a nod Hamill’s previous works.

I'd have to know how much was spent on it to think it's a flop.

Wikipedia says budget was $20 million.

I'm sure the goal is to just break even.

I saw it yesterday at old man time, 1330, and there were six other people in the theater in western Houston.

The funniest bits (I've seen every one of his specials, listen to 2 Bears 1 Cave, etc.) were the under the breath sort of moments. I laughed less than I do at the average 2 Bears episode, but I want to make sure another one gets made, so I bought a ticket.

It was worth the $10. Would I bring a S/O or kids to see it? No. I don't know if having repeated knowledge of the story of THE MACHINE hurt my enjoyment or not. The end sequence was pretty enjoyable.
