Xmen 97 season finale (spoilers)

Went to post to ask questions without seriously giving away what was a totally unexpected ending. Those bastards lol. So many questions.
- what was the point of Cable showing up like right before the attack and then disappearing.. seems like he must have tried to stop it and failed , or pushed the wrong time button lol.
- so gambit is 100 percent dead . Rogue touches him after. No way he’s coming back if not for some Deus ex Machina type shite.. like Cable goes back and they actually stop what was to happen.

I loved the show but felt like they needed to be an hour with how fast they went through it. For 5 Wednesdays a week I got to feel like a 10 year old again.. didn’t think I’d be seeing my absolute favorite X-men of all time go out like a champ and sacrifice himself. Was anyone else stunned and left with a ton of questions? Anyone else feel slightly embarrassed being a grown arse man with children getting a little emotional over a cartoon? ??

The internet says there's 10 episodes, so that wasn't the season finale.
My guess is they'll do some time shenanigans with Cable to undo some of that, especially if Magneto is toasted, but it was still pretty awesome.
This show is definitely hitting me right in the nostalgia, but I've been loving it.

In the trailer, there was a shot of a casket being lowered into the ground. I'm willing to bet its Gambit, but with Cable and time travel I don't think this is permanent.
