X-MEN Live-Action Series May be Coming to Fox Television … If Marvel Signs Off

Who says the world of mutant superheroes has to be confined to a movie theater screen? If negotiations work out between Fox Television Group and Marvel, the X-Men could be coming to the small screen in a live-action series. Talks were just brewing back in January when this series plans were first reported, though it seems some progress has been made. No deal is closed just yet, but new reports out of TCA confirm that both sides are in talks for a planned “long-running” series, not just a limited-run television event.
Per THR, here’s what Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden had to say about the progress:
“[For] X-Men, we’re in negotiations with Marvel. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing.”

I thought there was talk last year of a X-Force (or maybe it was one of the other X-men spin-off teams) tv show. I wonder of that is what this will be.

X-Men and Batman were my favorite animated series growing up. Would love this if done correctly. I think Fox is doing ok with Gotham so far so I do have hopes it can be done well.

This goes hand in hand with the shared universe talk before the f4 abomination. They need marvels permission for a lot of endeavors not specifically listed in said contracts. I can't imagine marvel not getting something in return if they allow this..or maybe just saying they have to produce it.

Pretty please don't be like Gotham.
This is good news as long as that structure isn't involved.
(Not that Gotham is bad, it's just the way it's built. It's the biggest tease of a show since Lost. And it goes too far in making lame Batman connections. It just needs to be a procedural about Gotham but it doesn't have the balls to do that.)

I'd doubt that it would be in any way close to the tone or content of Gotham.
My concern would be their going with low-powered mutants that would be easier to portray on a TV budget.
My hope is that they go all out like Flash and not all suits and ties like SHIELD.
