Would MTV Cribs be as much of a success today as it was in early 2000’s?

Do you feel today’s social media driven life would alter the show’s success?

Some of those shows were intriguing, but some were meh too.

I wonder if Birdman still has that house with the hot tub in the living room.

probably not, but I think it would be due to MTV's overall success/ratings now being nowhere near where they were in the early 00s.

plus, I think millienials tend to be not as materialistic as the previous generation, so something like cribs or pimp my ride wouldn't resonate quite as much.

That’s a good observation about the millennial generation

With social media and everyone bragging about what they have there is nothing left to imagine. It would not have the impact it had back in the day for sure.

Those shows were more popular back in the day because they were new and no other station had things on that were similar. Now a lot more stations have similar type shows on where the older crowd will watch to avoid the "MTV" aspect.

They hit the vein first

Definitely not. That show hit at the exact right moment in time for what it was, I doubt it would have been as successful too much earlier or too much later. I mean hell people don't even say "crib" anymore I don't think.

Every episode would be spun to show how a poor minority overcame systemic oppression to find success in the entertainment industry.

They're not "interested" in material things because they're too poor/unmotivated/unskilled to pay for it. Housing isn't a luxury good to most people, but it is when you live with your parents at 27.

Millennials are like Redman's friend who was crashing in one of his bedrooms and never leaves.

That house is in English Turn.

I always laughed when birdman points at the bidet and admitted he didn't know what that "second turlet" is for.

The Dale jr one was awesome.

I think it was party boy who gave them a tour of his car...

Maybe we're just not frickin douche bags who judge people solely on what they can buy. I don't give a frick what kind of car you drive or how big your McMansion is. People are more than what they own, you old piece of shite.
