Willy Wonka inspired the best one sentence summaries of a movie from that awesome thread we had last year.

Candyman gets paid. He puts it all on the parents tab then blames the kids for eating all that candy.

I think I pissed my pants the first time I saw the boat ride scene.

I was 23.

Do we know why Charlie and his family were living in "England"? Why were they and Willy Wonka the only people in the film ( aside from the American winners) the ones with American accents. Actually I think a few of his classmates had American accents as well. That bothered me.

never noticed that....now it's bothering me

I don't doubt that one bit man. Not one bit.

I was in the Grease play in high school. I was Sandy. I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm hotter than Olivia Newton John with a wig on. It's pretty impressive.

I had to go look up the actual lyrics to make sure this really wasn't in the movie.

quote:

Offer candy, lure him over, stick it in and make him scream.

You had to look that up?

movie was filmed in Germany

the location was deliberately ambiguous

I laugh every time I see the candy man nail the little girl in the chin with part of the bar.

I've thought that exact thing before. Clearly that candyman dude isn't in the business for the money. Makes you wonder what he has a candy store near an elementary school for. Hmmm....

I was listening to Marc Maron's podcast yesterday with Mel Brooks and he decribed Gene Wilder's performances as a volcano that erupts.

Makes sense watching this scene

Also notice that later, when Charlie goes in there to get some candy, the guy makes him pay
