Eddie has that power and pizzazz that Robin Williams gave to the Genie. Will smith simply doesnt have that.

100% agree that Murphy would be a pretty good choice. Will Smith on the other hand would be an epic disaster.

Can John C. Reilly sing?

He only starred and performed live in support of the greatest musical biopic of all time.

There is only one logical choice to play this role:

Sinbad

Disney can give Sinbad some much needed work while also closing an interdimensional wormhole. Win/Win

I'd rather see Josh Gad do a bad impression of Robin Williams for 90 minutes than watch Will Smith do the role.

I wonder if they'll bring Eddie back for the Mulan remake or if they decide to go the Daenerys route with the dragon instead.

FWIW no one can replace Robin in that role...but Will Smith sucks if that's their best option.

Have there been any other casting rumors for this one? Lion King seems to be filling out their cast.

My shitty opinions:

Aladdin - Bruno Mars
Jafar - Ben Kingsley
Carpet - Andy Serkis
Jasmine - (no clue if this person can sing) Freida Pinto
Iago - has to be Gilbert Gottfried
Main Jafar Henchman - The Rock

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

If you're going to have a black man play the Genie, cast Dave Chappelle or better yet Keegan Michael Key.

In all seriousness though, the absolute best choice to play the Genie is Seth MacFarlane.

Can't wait to hear this delivered in a half bored sounding monotone:

Hah, you know, Alladin, or hah, uh, Al, I'm just gonna call you Al, man, you just, uh, you know man, you've never had a friend like me, man, you know.

Walk hard.

I want to not like this but he or Eddie Murphy could make it work.
