Horror movies are tailor made for theatres. Unless you have and extremely nice home theatre in your house with full surround, pitch black And a massive screen you can't get the same experience. Then of course there is the crowd reactions.

A great Horror movie is great. A terrible horror movie can be so bad it's still very entertaining.

A well scripted, we'll thought out, critically acclaimed, plot driven movie doesn't have to be seen in theaters and some are better to watch at home because you can rewind and re-watch and pause it.

So unless it's an action, horror, or super hero movie. I won't go see it in theaters. I'll just watch at home.

I love being scared.

I love horror movies, roller coasters, haunted houses. "Safe" scares. Anything that feels like an actual threat to my life I stay away from ( sky diving, water slides).

I love the Paranormal Activity movies and I've seen them all in theaters. Alone. Because my wife hates scary movies.

I plan to go see Annabelle soon because The Conjuring was the last movie to scare me so bad I literally couldn't go to sleep. I had nightmares all night after I watched it. It takes a lot to do that to me.

Conjuring messed me up.
Ring scared me so bad. Slept with the tv on for 3 weeks. I was young though.
Strangers scared me because it is very real. could happen. the paranormal stuff scares me but doesn't seem real. But if it did happen to me......id poop

i cannot get into those movies. thought insidious and conjuring were both horrible. conversely, i thought sinister was down right terrifying

their trailers always make them look like garbage (to me, at least).

I love a movie like The Ring or 28 Days Later. I like being scared if it's a quality flick, but don't wanna sit there thru jump scare after jump scare just to get to a bummer of an ending. I loathe torture porn movies, that's what I don't get.

I have a personal theory that people that enjoy watching horror movies are actually sociopaths that would otherwise be murdering humans or pets without the release of a horror film.

I saw the Ring in theaters against my will in college because of a girl. It scarred me for life. I am quite certain that was the last horror movie I saw.

Anabelle was really bad. It was so easy to make bc it already had a good back story to it. But it was slow and not scary. I fell asleep for 10 minutes. I loved conjuring and enjoy scary movies so I was upset with this bust. Hoping ouiji is good however you spell it

I've never understood it, myself. Horror movies don't appeal to me at all.

The original. And even the remake wasn't bad

The few times I have seen a horror movie in the theater, the place was PACKED with teenagers. I am convinced they are keeping the genre going.

Me and the wife love all genre's we are both off Friday and plan on seeing a matinee of Gone Girl, going to dinner and then seeing a late showing of Annabelle. We loved the Conjuring and most of what Won does.

Liked all of them but I will admit Mr. Boogedy stuck with me longer. The Ring and that famous scene from Exorcist 3 hold my personal record for fricking me up.

I don't understand how people get scared by this stuff. I just can't get past the fakeness of it all. Especially haunted houses, high schoolers in masks just makes me lol. It freaks the frick out of my wife though and I just can't understand. I do like to go to haunted houses though, just to see how they are designed and the shite they do to try and freak out people.

Two pages and not a single response referencing catharsis? Was no one required to take a shitty humanities elective in college?

I find it disturbing the people actually watch those types of movies, but what's even more disturbing is the fact that somebody had to actually sit down and write that stuff.

Take Gone Girl vs. Annabelle. One critically acclaimed, one not.

I was under the impression that Gone Girl was a Thriller and not a pure Horror type movie.
