Why do people read spoilers? Does it not take the fun out of it?

And if you are the type that just has to know, please shut your dirty whore mouth and don't ruin it for the rest of us. Thank you.

My ex used to search for The Bachelor/Bachelorette spoilers. And then still watched the season religiously. Made zero sense.

Whose your father?
The answer would be a spoiler, and the OP apparently has a thing about spoilers. So he probably won't be answering that question.

I know I'm probably not going to read the book or see the movie/tv show, so I usually just go to wikipedia and read the synopsis

It makes zero sense that the bachelor can even have spoilers

Mufasa dying is not a spoiler. It's in the first damn act.
I don't think people should intentionally spoil stuff, but I'm far more irritated by the spoiler police than the spoilers. Seriously, most good movies are not affected at all if you know the general plot points. It's the how, not the what.
(But spoiling, say, Darth and Luke would suck - that's an outstanding moment I'm trying to preserve for my kids when they are ready)

Spoiler type stuff was why I quit participating in the Breaking Bad weekly threads. The first couple of years those were a bunch of guys oohing and aahing over the most recent episode and guessing at what might happen next. They turned into people telling about what the writers said about the future episodes in an interview.
I'm like you Luke, don't want to know any of that ahead of time. Still want to be amazed.

I read spoilers when I don't feel like investing time in a series or movie that just doesn't look all that great to me.

I had a friend growing up whose mom would read the first few chapters of a novel, and then the last few chapters, before starting back at the beginning. She said she didn't like surprises.

I've never been spoiler-adverse. I don't very often go out of my way to follow them. But if someone drops on by accident it doesn't bother me. And once in a great while if I'm curious about something I'll search one out.
The best way I can explain it is I just don't look for the "surprise" or "gotcha" factor to bring me my entertainment factor in shows, movies, books, etc. Heck, I've even been known to re-read a bock now and again and even to watch a show again, knowing full well what the ending is.

Damn man you're crazy, nobody ever does that

I hate when people spoil things. It makes me so mad. More than anything for some reason lol. Especially when you DVR an episode and people on FB ruin it. My girlfriends mom every time she watches a movie finds out the ending first. So weird

Reality TV shows are less "serious" so I don't mind if stuff on there gets spoiled. For example, I watched Big Brother for several years and avoided any hint at spoilers, I wanted to just watch the episodes as they aired and learn everything that way. Then I backed off that stance, and it made the show more interesting for me. Reading/knowing what people are doing when the show isn't airing live is pretty interesting. You find out a lot about people's strategy and gameplay, who is working with who, etc. On the live shows, you're getting 24/7 camera footage edited and condensed down to whatever 45 minutes the producers want you to see. There's so much more going on.
