Really enjoyed the books and didn't think the first movie wasn't that bad. Why did they never make a sequel. Some of the YA novels that have been turned into movies since then seem to be much less entertaining.

Because the first one was so bad that calling it a dumpster fire would be kind

Because its an awful movie and a hell of a rip-off of a book series. It could lose a plagiarism suit to Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and the Dragonriders of Pern. No originality whatsoever.

I mean the hero at the end sails off to the West to a distant land never to return. What the shite? That's like having a slasher movie in a hotel, the audience accuses you of ripping off the Shining, you deny it, and then at the end your villain is a ghost in a picture. It's that ridiculous.

Because it sucked shite and was basically a word for word remake of A New Hope.

If you actually enjoyed that piece of shite I feel like you owe me money for the cash and time and nausea i wasted on that abortion of a waste of a movie.

You're giving it too much credit with the last two. That piece of flaming shite was such a shot for shot remake of A New Hope that I was predicting dialogue by the second act.

Assuming this is what you meant, I can't believe that to be true.

The book was great and Eldest was great too. The movie was an abortion that cut out some of the best parts of the books and jammed in half made story lines and stupid CGI.

I wish they'd redo the movie and actually make it right.

Man if you read the books you know how god awful that movie was, putrid isnt strong enough.

All reading enthusiast have been disappointed with a book to movie sequence but got damn they murdered that story. It could have been LOR epic if done properly.

I don't think I am. I think he first watched Star Wars, then watched the Lord of the Rings, read the Lord of the Rings, and then the Dragonriders of Pern, and that's the extent of it. He just put them into a blender and ripped off everything about them. The geography is the same as the Lord of the Rings, most of the plot is Star Wars, and the main characters are all the Dragonriders of Pern.

It shows that it was written by a 15 year old. Not bad for a 15 year old, but it should have never been published and he should have been told to go back to the drawing board and to write something more original. And it sure as shite should have never been made into a movie. There's a reason we don't accept movies and books written by teenagers for the most part, since all they really know how to do is plagiarize. You need your work strongly critiqued for years in order to get good. I really can't think of a single gifted writer/screenwriter in their 20s, nevertheless teens.

OK I agree it was bad but I mean I could find a worse way to spend a couple hours I think. I mean the acting wasn't 100% garbage it was mostly the script and like someone else said the stuff they omitted and the way they made the shade kind of a fig and didn't make the king that scary but I feel like that stuff could be fixed.

The budget on that movie could not have been more than 500 bucks, awful

I mean, Breesus, I rarely if ever disagree with you, but that's bullshite.

I was like 14 when I read them, and I liked the first one descent enough, but as I kept reading the Eldest I realized this was simply a rip-off of the Empire Strikes Back. A chase sequence on one side while Eragon goes and trains with a Jedi in the Forest on the other. I kept on thinking throughout my read "Eragon better not be Morzan's son". And of course this turns out to be the case. I just didn't finish it once that revelation was made.

I really think he could have been sued by Lucas and the Tolkein estate for plagiarism and lost.

Right there with you. I usually agree with B to a degree. But he's fricking wrong here, those books are not only bad but plagiarist poison to young writers. frick that stupid story. Goddamn I'm all mad just thinking about it before bedtime!!!

I don't know why but I cannot stop laughing at this.

Meh. Empire isn't the only story line ever were the protagonist and antagonist were related. There weren't dragons in star wars, the magic use was different, as was the universe it occupied.

Yes I agree they shared some close similarities and I'm damn sure star wars was an influence, but I really enjoyed the books. I read them in high school, and I'm sure age had Alot to do with how much I liked them, but I really liked Eragon.

If I shut out all books that shared similar themes with classics I'd quit reading books.

It's not one of my all time favorite books or anything, but I really enjoyed reading it when I did.

I was so jacked up when the movie came out, and I completely agree with the post above me. The only movie I've been more upset watching was Dragon Ball live-action.

Nothing will ever top that abortion, but Eragon was horrible. It slaughtered the source material, it cut out themes that made the book fun, and it replaced them with unnecessary bullshite.

I will never understand why directors and studios see perfect source material and arse rape it.

Knowing your penchant for saying the opposite and being a genuine troll who says things he knows not to be true in order to get people to disagree, I will take that to mean that i don't suck now and in fact I've always been awesome and I'll thank you for the compliment.

I guarantee I could write a 4 paragraph summary of the story of the Eldest, and the only major difference is there's a battle at the end of Eldest and not Empire.

I will say that at least someone around him understood story structure when writing the books (whether that someone be him, his parents, or Irvin Kershner), while whoever wrote the movie didn't have a clue.

I gave up that life. You apparently gave up the life of not sucking. Good luck to both of us, I guess, on our new adventures.

Yeah I said they shared Alot of similarity.

What do you compare the bond between Eragon and Saphira, and pretty much anything Saphira does to star wars?

If you want to just call it Star Wars with magic and dragons, that's fine, but it was cool when I read it in high school.

Of course, Empire is my all time favorite movie and dragons are awesome, so I have no shame in loving the book back in high school.
