I've broken out my old coverless, beat up copy but I'm only selectively reading cerain sections. I read the Beorn stuff and it was pretty good.
The Hobbit is pretty light reading compared to LoTRs. Not sure if that will help or hurt its transition to film, but I'm excited to find out.

Read it while hiking in NZ over a 3 night period. It's practically the national book of new Zealand at this point.

I already did. I read the whole book during two road trips (one for LSU/Auburn and the other for LSU/Florida).

I have this version of The Hobbit, but I just got it recently and haven't even opened it. It's so beautiful (no homo).

The animated movie was only about an hour long which means there was no subplots and lots of the story was missing but they didnt add anything. The depictions of some the characters like the wood elves and gollum are way off.
It tells the general story but its like reading a page long synopsis of the history of the U.S. you know the general story but not really.
I havent seen it in a long time so this is all on memory. Ill have to watch it again.

I won't be. I read it many years ago but I remember most of it like it was yesterday. I think I would rather enjoy the movies and maybe one day read the books again just to compare.
