Ser Bronn of the Blackwater is clearly the correct answer.

you neglected to consider that he took on the Kingsguard with just a wooden sword and disarmed the first one to engage. We never saw the rest of the battle only knowing that Mervyn Trant survived only to succumb to Ayra and Syrio to not be referenced again. What if he had possession of a real sword when the KG arrived? What if he's a faceless man and we will see him again in the future?

I think GRRM confirmed him dead.

It was him against 20 others! He still managed to kill a lot of them and he was an old man!

If Jaime still had 2 hands it would be him.

If we are talking about characters who are or may be alive right now, it's hard to say. Randyl Tarly is probably great, Brienne is solid, The Hound as well. Jon is pretty average/about the equivalent to Ned in the books. He's much better on the show at sword fighting. I definitely think he could whoop Ramsey's arse though.

Oh and the Blackfish isn't shabby either/is the most warrior like of House Tully.

Brienne is certainly better than Loras, so I'm going with a no on that.

In the books he wasn't using a sword in that fight, he was using a long axe and got beat by her. Even Jaime contemplates how great Loras could be but in the books Loras isn't arrested and he is a Kingsguard. He is a much more capable fighter in the books than he is on the show. The show managed to really gay him up and tone down his fighting abilities.

As for some of the other comments through this thread, I forgot this isn't just a reader's thread, a lot of opinions would be vastly different from the books than the show.

Arthur Dayne is the best in terms of the relevant GoT universe in on the novels. His 5 minutes of screen time in the show was easily the best impressive display of swordsmanship we've seen in that adaptation. Successfully taking down four trained swordsman at once (and wielding two longswords skillfully at the same time) is a rare skill.

Ned in the TV show surprised Jaime by how well he held up.

Not really sure why so many people in here are saying Jaime would've destroyed him.

I would think that would have to go to Loras now.

Loras is alive, but in bad shape in both the books and show.

For "warrior" - right now, it would tough between Bronn and Daario, IMHO. We just don't know how effective Frankenmountain is going to be.

On the show, Ned was actually worrying Jamie. If he hadn't got stabbed by the other guy, I think he would've beat Jamie. Again, this is only on the show. In the books I would bet the house on Jamie, but on the show I'd probably take the underdog Ned.

That's a given and I would definitely choose him for GOAT, but he is dead now. Wondering about current characters.

Bronn

Biggest issue with this answer is he basically admitted he wasn't as good as the mountain when Tyrion asked him to fight the mountain in that trial by combat

All out warrior who would beat any of the others in an open battle? Khal Drogo would have slaughtered any of them. He has the finesse of the likes of Jammie or Bronn, but with brute strength and fierceness like The Mountain.

The problem with him is he doesn't wear armor and has little composure. I'd honestly put Daario and Jorah over him if it came down to a battle.

In swordplay? He's better. It's just that The Mountain could (probably) beat him by simply overpowering him. Bronn would have had to resort to hit and run tactics and "chip away" at The Mountain over a long time where as all The Mountain had to do was get in one blow.

I'm taking armor out of the equation to put them all on equal grounds.

If this is the case, I think we can take the Mountain off the list. He is very slow and highly reliant on his armor. I think Drogo could take the Mountain in those conditions.
