he was the child of a true legend who made some coin off the family business... cult classic Big Trouble in Little China followed by Escape from New York were his best films.

I dint think he gets nearly the credit. Like said above, he can do it all. He's like John Candy, u just can't not like the guy.

Too much credit goes to Deniro or DiCaprio when they play dramatic roles. Just acting pissed off isn't too notch acting to me.

You have all of his kid/teenage stuff - then a hard break with Used Cars and Escape from New York. But a solidly varied career with silly (yet fun) films like Overboard and Big Trouble In Little China, and more serious films like Tombstone (in which he was excellent).

He's been in a lot of great movies, and I've loved a lot of the characters who he has played. He isn't someone who I think of when I try to think of someone who has blown me away with performances though. Bad arse action star. Good comedic timing. I don't know. Maybe it's a good thing that he doesn't stand out as someone who puts on a performance.

It's hard for me to even be qualify what makes acting "good." It's easier to point out obvious crap. I've generally enjoyed Russell's work.

MacReady: I know I'm human. And if you were all these things, then you'd just attack me right now, so some of you are still human. This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It'll fight if it has to, but it's vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won.

That's ALL you need to know about Kurt Russel.

Capt'n Ron is such an underrated comedy. It's classic Kurt Russell and my personal favorite of all his movies. Followed by Tango and Cash, then Escape From NY, then Big Trouble.

Damn, now I want to watch all these movies.

See I found myself in the shoes of most here where I don't think of him when I think of tip actors yet when I look back I don't think he's ever been in a movie I don't like.

He's one of the few unique actors out there, who has chosen mostly great scripts (even Soldier), and can do it all.

If we're talking "Acting" ability, like so many of these conversations, I'd rank him better than most but not like Top 10 or 20.

But if we're ranking is career, versatility or his presence, probably MUCH higher.

I kind of agree, but I also think career, versatility, and presence are big factors when judging actors.
