I'm not sure if this is a well known fact or not, but when I found out it blew my fricking mind.

My understanding is this.
Halloween 1 and 2 are obviously in the same timeline. Halloween 4,5,6 are in that timeline as well.
Halloween H20 basically retcons 4,5,6
So you essentially have 2 Halloween timelines which branch out from the first 2 movies, although it is debatable whether 4,5,6 fit into the original timeline at all or not.
Halloween 3 came about because the franchise was originally intended to be an anthology where each film was a different story.
Oh and I think Halloween: Resurrection is a sequel to H20.
I'm not sure if this is a well known fact or not, but when I found out it blew my fricking mind.
