Not to mention the amount of eye candy for the fellas.

You say that, but I tried to get one of my friends to watch it and after 30 minutes, he was like "this is intended just as soft-core porn for gay men, right?". I had never even considered that before.

My old lady knows I'm a Tarantino fan, and accused me of having a man crush on Gannicus.

Sounds like your friend is a bit uncomfortable about his sexuality.

One of the most entertaining shows I've ever watched and one of the best too.

This really was an great show to watch. It had everything that could satisfy you. Action, adventure, a good plot, politics, romance, the glory of being a gladiator and also the sheer brutality and barbaric nature of it, an accurate visual setting of the place and time period, historical references while not being completely 100% accurate still did a good job of staying true to historical record, and really hot and beautiful people that made for great sex scenes.

But the thing that puts it over the top is the dialogue. It's not so much the cussing that says shite, frick, arse, bitch but rather how the dialogue is set up where it's like broken English and Latin mixed together and sounds like a giant poem that doesn't bore you to death but rather entertains the hell out of you and keeps you coming back for more. It's one historical aspect this show absolutely got right as it is ignorant to assume people in that time period spoke like we do today with more descriptive dialogue and conversation.

I'm trying to imagine the cast of Spartacus talking like we do...

Spartacus: Hey, Crixus.
Crixus: Oh hey, Sparty. What's up?
Spartacus: I have a problem with Mira. She says that I hit her. I did naht.

Batiatus: Aww, dammit ! Now I'm not gonna be a senator. Well, shite man. I guess that's life.

Gannicus: WHERE ALL MAH BIG BOOTY BITCHES AND SHOTS AT???

I don't know what to tell you. If a show with gratuitous amount of gore and nudity while mixing in decent acting and a pretty neat plot doesn't do it for you, then it's just not your thing.

I want to be a gladiator when I grow up after watching this show. Well, a really good gladiator.

Yeah I watched the first two seasons and a couple episodes of the 3rd season. Just lost interest. I'll probably finish it but I'm in no hurry to.

A bunch of hot women getting railed and he thought it was for gay men? I mean sure, there's a penis or two thrown in there from time to time. But that's easy to look past when Xena Warrior Princess is having threesomes with her hot friend

Haha, I find the dialogue utterly ridiculous, if entertaining.

I just can't understand the substantive praise for what is essentially a comic book version of a historical account (albeit one without a great deal of certainty). That said I really did enjoy it for what it was.

The majority of imagery is of muscle-bound men in very spare dress. (Also, there is some gay sex depicted)

You're not focusing on the right things, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Just finished the final episode and it was a very well done show.

Season 1 was all around fantastic. It probably is a top 10 show for me all time (from what I have watched) The prequel season was awesome just because of John Hannah. Season 2 was my least favorite because it took a while to get used to Liam Mcintyre. By season 3 I started to enjoy him portraying Spartacus in his own way.

Overall great show.

Batiatus is a top 5 character all time for me because of Hannah's brilliant performance

Maybe my favorite show.

Obviously Breaking Bad is the greatest human achievement though. Except for maybe the Wire.
