Yeah, I don't know if the villain wins in this movie, but Batman certainly loses in "Mask of the Phantasm". He lost everything he's ever wanted or cared about and is damned to a life of misery he can not change.

Seriously, I mean you could argue he was the hero of the story but if he was it was a very dark utilitarian hero.

I wish... I enjoy the Marvel movies but hate how they just kill off most of their villains. They never seem to develop them enough either. I really thought Ultron was going to be the one but nope..
