This is a great thread by the way. I'm hoping there are a few flicks on here that I may have overlooked throughout the years.

You really have to differentiate between movies about writers and movies about painters/sculptors, since the latter are so much easier to visualize.

The act of writing is so uncinematic I can't think of a film which completely succeeded in showing it.

ETA not to mention Jim dropped acid with Andy Warhol in the movie so you had a writer and an artist in one big clusterfrick of creativity
