There are movies that I might say are objectively my favorite, but the ultimate judge is what movies will I stop and watch if they are on? This isn't an Oscars' list. It's movies I can watch over and over.

Anything that starts with a Rudyard Kipling work is going to be an adventure. It will entertain and make you think. Captains Courageous (1937) is great too, as are most of the adaptations of The Jungle Book and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Kim (1950) may be Dean Stockwell's best childhood performance, and it's one of my favorite Errol Flynn roles too.

Brazil. Terry Gilliam's masterpiece. Not without flaws but the moments of near perfection overcome that. Gilliam was right that the danger isn't evil monsters, it's the banal lives we chose to live. And the stupid bureaucracy that we put up with. Very funny movie at times and very dark at others. Perfect mix really.

It will always be Jaws.
I was fascinated and frightened of sharks as a kid. Nightmares galore and still watched it every time I had a chance.
But when I watched a behind the scenes of the movie and found out the whole premise of the movie broke before filming started, a new screenplay was winged to get the ball rolling, you don’t even see the shark for 2/3’s of the movie (cause it was broke) and it still captures my attention (especially when shown on the big screen) every time!

Chinatown. "Saltwater, bad for glass."
L.A. Confidential. Crowe, Spacey, Pierce and Cromwell all nailed their roles. "Rollo Tomassi."
