I'm going to exclude pre 1970 movies , since there were 100 WW2 ones made

Hunt for Red October
Master and Commander
Final Countdown
Under Seige

Das Boot

ETA: I love your first two. I would also throw in Crimson Tide right below those 3.

Annapolis is better than those listed other than The Hunt for Red October.

U-571 and k-19 are good as well. But hunt for the red October is the best I can think of.

I can think of two reasons and a cake why Under Siege is number one.

I used to love to watch the old Horatio Hornblower movies with my father when I was a kid.

Crimson Tide
The Hunt for Red October
Master & Commander
Down Periscope

Those are my four favorite naval films (not necessarily in that order).

My G-d, man, I understand some discretion, but this leaves off Mr. Roberts, The Caine Mutiny and In Harm's Way.

I would add Crimson Tide and Midway to your list.

(ETA: at everyone watching BBCAM tonight - Mrs. Midnight had never seen Crimson Tide before).

ETA: I also agree with Tora, Tora, Tora and Das Boot.
