What the hell was Sam Rami thinking in Spider-Man 3?

Watched the Spiderman trilogy again.
Seriously, Sand-Man? After you got heavy hitters such as Green Goblin (fricked over the Avengers in COmics) Doc Ock (frick over the entire Avengers in comics) you go with friggin Sand Man?!

Venom should not have to share the big screen

It wasn't Sam. Sony got too involved and Sam just said frick it and did the best he could

His thoughts were "frick the studio who is controlling my project".

Sam Raimi was never a fan of Venom. But he was a fan favorite and the studio wanted to see said fan favorite in a movie. So he eventually bowed to studio pressure. But his heart was never in Spider-Man 3 due to the loss of creative control and therefore he ended up making a sub-par product.

Sony got too involved
I find that hard to believe.

You don't just forget how to make a good movie after making the previous two

Sandman was the worst part of the movie. Too many villains dragged it out way too long.
ETA: I meant to say Venom was the worst, sorry. Though all of the villains in this one were pretty weak, tbh.
Most of 3 is pretty bad, but I actually enjoyed the campy schlock moments of symbiote Spidey.

Sam told the studio to go frick themselves and made a shite movie

Sandman was the best part of the movie.
The forced Venom parts with emo-Spidey and shitty Topher Grace were fricking abysmal.
If Rami had been allowed to focus purely on the movie he wanted to make then it would have been great.
